Hi Sheila
It cost me £12 to add RA to my annual holiday insurance policy last year.
And today I just added my daughter's RA to our family one which was £12.12. That's with Halifax. The total annual cost for Europe for 4 adults (2 adult and 2 children can be under 23 years old! -- I've got one 18 and one 22) is £124.00 - now added the extra £12.12 to cover her. This year was quite a rise from last year which was £86 for annual family of 4 - Europe. I did quite a few quotes and £124 was the cheapest I could get even without the medical conditions.
I was already covered for asthma and neuropathy, and my daughter was already covered for asthma, on last years.
The choices with the questions are:
How many drugs are you on? it's actually either 1 or 2 or more. We are both on 2 or more.
Do you use any aids? For me I said a walking stick. My daughter doesn't use anything.
Have you been admitted to hospital with any lung problems with the RA? we both answer no.
There was another question which we answered 'no' to but I can't remember what it was.
If you are not honest with the questions then you are not covered, so I decided to be honest and for us it was only £12 each for the RA - which I didn't think was too bad for an annual policy. We go away quite often so it's worth the annual policy for us.
Halifax phone number is 0845 070 1956 - as it's still on my desk!!
Hope that helps.
Anne
